The Pickerington Local School District’s crisis team will be at the high school from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday and Wednesday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Five students from Pickerington High School Central were involved in a crash in north Columbus on Christmas Eve, according to the school district. Two of them were killed.

On Dec. 24, a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling northbound on Carmack Road approaching the West Lane Avenue intersection. Police said the vehicle failed to stop for a red traffic light at the intersection and hit a 2023 Honda H-RV that was traveling eastbound on West Lane Avenue.

Two of the students, 16-year-old Jabriel Osman and 15-year-old Jalen Daley, were pronounced dead at the scene. They were passengers inside the Chevrolet, according to police.

The other three teens were transported to local hospitals to be treated for minor injuries. They were released from the hospital and are back home with their respective families.

The driver and passenger from the Honda were also taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

“The district has been in contact with all the families, and our hearts are with each of them and our entire community. Please keep the families in your thoughts and prayers,” school leaders said in the statement.
