COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Pickaway County teacher was charged after she admitted to sending explicit photos to a student earlier this month, according to a report from the sheriff's office.

Tiffany Haughey, 42, was charged with disseminating matter harmful to juveniles after reportedly exchanging photos with a student. She was an intervention specialist for the Westfall Local School District.

According to a Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy was called to Westfall High School on Aug. 2 to meet with the principal. The principal advised the deputy of a situation involving a minor and an intervention specialist.

The principal told the deputy he was made aware of an incident where the intervention specialist sent pornographic images to a student, according to the report. The incident was discovered after a student told one of his coaches that Haughey allegedly sent obscene photos to another student.

On Aug. 8, deputies spoke to the student involved who said he and the teacher became Snapchat friends and snapchatted every day. He reportedly told deputies that he and the teacher had exchanged explicit photos.

Later that day, deputies spoke to Haughey outside of her home. According to the report, Haughey told police that she was begged to send images and that she was in a vulnerable state. The teacher said the student did send her explicit photos. She also admitted to sending explicit photos to the student, the report says.

The school district said Haughey was immediately placed on leave and has not been on campus since the district received the initial complaint.

Haughey resigned on Aug. 16.

“The District has cooperated with local law enforcement in the investigation and completed all reporting requirements with the Ohio State Board of Education Office for Professional Conduct. As Superintendent, there is no greater priority than the health, safety, and welfare of our students,” Superintendent Jason Fife said in a statement.
