COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was killed in a crash on U.S. Route 23 in Pickaway County last week, according to the sheriff’s office.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 4 on Route 23 near Hagerty Road.
Deputies learned that 53-year-old Eric Payne of Paris, Kentucky, was driving a 2012 Ford Focus heading southbound when his vehicle went off the road.
The sheriff’s office said the vehicle rolled and hit the crossover, causing it to go airborne. The vehicle landed on its wheels and continued south until it came to rest in the median.
Payne was taken to OhioHealth Berger Hospital and later flighted to Grant Medical Center. He died from his injuries on Sept. 6.
The crash remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
