Police: 1 injured in east Columbus hit-and-run

Police did not immediately provide a description of the driver or vehicle involved.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A pedestrian was seriously injured when they were struck by a vehicle on the city's east side Friday evening, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called to the intersection of East Livingston Avenue and Mayfield Place just before 8 p.m. on reports of a pedestrian struck. 

Police said the pedestrian was crossing Livingston from north to southwest and was not in a marked crosswalk. At the same time, an unidentified vehicle was traveling westbound on Livingston, hitting the pedestrian. The vehicle did not stay at the scene, continuing westbound on Livingston. 

The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The crash remains under investigation.
