COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person is dead after they were struck by a semitrailer on Interstate 71 in north Columbus Monday morning, police said.
The incident happened on I-71 South at Weber Road around 7 a.m.
Columbus police said the person, for unknown reasons, either fell or jumped from the bridge and was struck by a semi. The person was pronounced dead at 7:06 a.m.
The incident resulted in the hourslong road closure of I-71 South from the I-71/I-270 split to beyond Weber Road. All lanes have since reopened.
The Franklin County Coroner's office is handling the investigation.
