COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the last week and a half, thousands of people have died in the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Including innocent Palestinian civilians.
On Tuesday, hundreds of students at The Ohio State University gathered for a night of remembrance and prayer for Palestine.
It was hosted by Students for Justice in Palestine at OSU, the Palestinian Women’s Association, and the Muslim Students Association.
“I feel like our voices are not being heard,” said Malak Hamed, a student at Ohio State.
Students recited prayers and read written letters to remember those who lost their lives.
“For us as outsiders who are not in Gaza, I think it's very important for us to speak out,” said Jineen Musa, another student at Ohio State.
Students said it’s heartbreaking for them to see so many people die.
"The fear that they're living through that at any moment they could die. It’s really scary, “said Hamed.
Many students said they want the war to end, and for there to be peace.
"This can't be ignored. It needs to be changed. There needs to be something that happens for the people,” said Musa.
“No innocent civilian should die on either side, we just want peace,” said Hamed.
