COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State University has suspended fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon for three years.
A spokesperson for the Office of Student Life said TKE will also face a year of probation, pending any appeals they may file.
The suspension follows an investigation in which OSU found the fraternity chapter guilty of hazing, endangering behavior and improper use of alcohol.
Last November, OSU suspended recruitment and social activities for most fraternities on campus. That followed reports that 11 fraternities were investigated this semester for violations of the code of student conduct.
In December, OSU sent a letter to 37 suspended fraternities outlining requirements they need to fulfill before being reinstated.
Tau Kappa Epsilon sent 10TV the following statement:
“Tau Kappa Epsilon is currently still in the student conduct appeal process with Ohio State University. We have no further comment until this conduct process is completed. Our expectation is that the appeal process is taken seriously and officials have not pre-determined an outcome without completing the rights afforded to this student organization.”
