72-year-old woman killed, 2-year-old child injured in Marion crash, OSHP says

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Center Street near Chicago Avenue around 11:30 a.m.

MARION, Ohio — A 72-year-old woman died after being struck by an SUV and a large truck in Marion on Monday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Center Street near Chicago Avenue around 11:30 a.m.

OSHP says 72-year-old Linda Dowalter was on a sidewalk when the driver of a Ford Escape was pulling out of a residence and struck Showalter. 

The woman and the SUV were then struck by a Kenworth T480 truck that was traveling east on Center Street.

OSHP says Dowalter was pronounced dead at the scene. A 7-year-old and a 2-year-old were with Dowalter at the time of the crash. The 2-year-old suffered minor injuries. The older child was not hurt.

The driver of the SUV and a passenger were taken to Marion General Hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured. 

The crash remains under investigation.
