One man was killed and another injured after their car crashed trying to avoid a dog in the roadway Friday morning.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, two men were in a car driving on State Route 204 near Thornville in Perry County around 7 a.m. when they came upon a dog in the roadway.
Troopers say that the car likely swerved to avoid the dog, rolling over on its top in a ditch.
The driver of the car 30-year-old Michael Samson was transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus in critical condition.
His passenger in the car 34-year-old Kendall R. Samson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators do not believe either man was wearing a seatbelt.
Investigators did not indicate whether or not the dog was injured.
