COLUMBUS, Ohio — OhioHealth will be raising the minimum, starting wage for its employees from $12 per hour to $15 per hour.

The company announced on Wednesday that the change will increase the salaries of more than 4,200 employees who make less than $15 per hour.

OhioHealth will be adjusting the pay of employees who already make just over $15 per hour to preserve their relative placement in the pay grade.

In the announcement, OhioHealth said the current state minimum wage of $8.55 is not enough for people to support themselves and their families.

“One of the most foundational things we do to ensure a great workplace for all associates is to pay people fairly,” said Johnni Beckel, senior vice president and chief human resources officer. “That means each and every associate – regardless of where they work or the job they perform.”

The change will take effect Nov. 3.
