Recipients of the Ohio Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will receive their March benefits over two issuances, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services announced Wednesday.
Half of the benefits for March will go to recipients on Feb. 22. The remainder will go out on the recipients' assigned March issuance date.
Due to the partial government shutdown that concluded near the end of January, the Food and Nutrition Service with the U.S. Department of Agriculture told states to make February SNAP benefits available by Jan. 20, since the availability of the funds were not guaranteed for February.
Those February SNAP benefits were issued to Ohio recipients on Jan. 16, according to the Department of Job and Family Services.
SNAP recipients in Ohio are expected to return to the standard cycle for April benefit issuance.
