MASON, Ohio — Kings Island has officially shut down one of its best-known roller coasters.
The amusement park said final rides were underway for the Vortex as it approached its last day of operation Sunday.
When it first opened in 1987, the Vortex was the tallest, full-circuit roller coaster with the highest drop in the world and the first roller coaster in the world with six inversions.
