COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus Metropolitan Library CEO Patrick Losinski announced his retirement Tuesday after serving in the role for the last 22 years.

Losinski has been the CEO since 2002, and in his time, he has contributed to the growth of the 23-location library through initiatives and events.

Some of his biggest accomplishments at the library include: implementing school help centers, renovating or rebuilding 18 of the branches, eliminating overdue fines and adapting during the pandemic.

Before he led the Columbus libraries, he was executive director of Pikes Peak Library District in Colorado Springs.

He was named 2015 CEO of the Year by “Columbus CEO” magazine. He was also awarded the 2017 Regional Leadership Award by the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission.

“Pat’s leadership has not only ensured that Columbus Metropolitan Library is ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow, but he’s helped to redefine what a public library can – and should – be in service of its community,” says Tom Katzenmeyer, president of the CML Board of Trustees. “We are immensely grateful to Pat for his remarkable service to the organization, the 23 communities it serves and to the profession.”

The process to find the next CEO is expected to take several months and will be carried out by the library’s Board of Trustees. Losinski will remain in his role until a new CEO is hired.
