The Ohio Department of National Resources says black bear sightings could be increasing during the summer months.
In a Facebook post, ODNR said summer is peak time bear movement and young black bears will often travel great distances in search of a new home.
Because of this, ODNR says they are more likely to be seen by people during this time.
“Moving bird feeders higher, removing uneaten pet food, keeping trash inside until pick up day, and cleaning up after grilling all help to deter bears from frequenting an area and becoming nuisances,” ODNR said.
ODNR said if you see a bear, you can contact a local Division of Wildlife office or report the sighting online but to leave the bear alone.
