COLUMBUS, Ohio — New food items will be among the highlights of this year’s Ohio State Fair.
Those looking to try different foods will be able to save some money by visiting on both Thursdays of the fair, July 25 and Aug. 1, for $3 Thursday. Visitors can get mini versions of fair favorites for just $3 each including funnel cakes, fries, mini donuts, lemonade, corndog, bourbon chicken, deep fried treats and more.
The Ohio State Fair will run from July 24 until Aug. 4. Find more information on the fair here.
One of the most anticipated items is from Schmidt’s – now in its second year of teaming up with the fair for an exclusive flavor.
The newest cream puff flavor is a play on a fair classic – cotton candy. Visitors can order a cotton candy cream puff beginning July 24, the opening day of the fair.
According to a release, the fair-themed puff is a blend of blue-colored custard served in the traditional cream puff exterior and dusted with powdered sugar.
Velvet Ice Cream also partnered with the state to offer an exclusive ice cream flavor. Fairgoers will be able to pick up caramel popcorn ice cream while visiting the butter cow and calf sculptures inside the Dairy Products Building.
The Ohio Poultry Association (OPA) is offering several new items that will be available in the Taste of Ohio Pavilion & Beer Garden. They’ll have turkey wings - weighing in at approximately one pound each. On the sweet side, they will also offer a new cheesecake sundae.
OPA is also featuring six new deviled egg flavors: espresso, maple bacon crunch, buffalo chicken, dill pickle, hot dog and the 2024 featured flavor of the year; to be announced by OPA soon.
