Ohio Lottery warns customers, retailers to monitor credit for fraudulent activity after hack

Ohio Lottery issued a warning on Thursday saying the agency believes someone obtained access to information belonging to customers and retailers.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Lottery is warning customers and retailers to check their account statements for fraudulent activity following a cybersecurity incident last month.

On Dec. 23, the agency said a hack impacted some of the Ohio Lottery's internal applications.

Ohio Lottery issued a warning on Thursday saying the agency believes someone obtained access to information belonging to customers and retailers and they should be cautious when it comes to their credit.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we urge customers and retailers to be vigilant in monitoring their account statements for fraudulent or irregular activity," the agency said in a statement.

The incident did not involve any Ohio Lottery games or technology systems that it operates. Customers can continue purchasing tickets.

Anyone with a winning ticket over $599 should be mailed to the Ohio Lottery Central Office in Cleveland for payment or by using the Ohio Lottery mobile app.

Anyone whose information may have been compromised will be contacted by the agency.
