COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police provided a timeline leading up to an AMBER Alert that was issued Wednesday morning throughout Ohio for a missing 5-year-old boy.
Authorities say the boy, Darnell Taylor, was taken from the 900 block of Reeb Avenue early Wednesday morning by one of his legal custodians. A caller told authorities that his wife, 48-year-old Pammy Maye, woke him up and made statements that made him believe that the boy had been hurt.
The caller told police Maye left the home with Darnell in a Jeep. The SUV was found in a Cleveland suburb hours later, but Maye and Darnell were not there.
Records from the Franklin County Municipal Court state that Maye is being charged with kidnapping and endangering children. She currently has a warrant out for her arrest.
On Thursday, police provided an update as authorities continued their search for Darnell and Maye.
Police played a 911 call from a man claiming that his wife told him that "she had just killed our foster child." A woman could be heard screaming throughout part of the call. Police identified the woman as Maye. The man later said on the 911 call that his wife left the home.
Police also showed dash camera video of a responding officer in the area of East Livingston Avenue and Lockbourne Road. The video shows a Jeep Cherokee, believed to be driven by Maye, driving in the opposite direction.
