MADISON COUNTY, Ohio -- An EF0 tornado touched down Monday in eastern Madison County, according to a preliminary report from the National Weather Service
The NWS says at 4:49 p.m., the tornado was believed to have touched down in a field south of State Route 665/London-Lockbourne Road. The tornado crossed the road and moved northeast into the Lilly Chapel area.
The NWS says the estimated maximum wind speed was 85 mph and the tornado left damage along Lilly Chapel Georgesville Road, destroyed a barn and threw metal from the roof across the road into neighbors' yards. Trees along the road were also damaged.
The tornado lifted in a field at around 4:53 p.m. The path length was 1.9 miles with a maximum width of 75 yards.
According to the NWS, an EF0 classification ranges in wind speeds from 65-85 mph.
There were no injuries or deaths reported by the NWS.
