COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police identified the teenager shot and killed in an altercation in North Linden as a 16-year-old boy.
Officers were called to the 1000 block of East Weber Road just after midnight on a report of a shooting. A 911 caller told the dispatcher that a male had been shot.
Police arrived at the location and found the teen, identified as Me'Khi Keys, lying on the sidewalk on the south side of East Weber Road.
Keys was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries at 12:35 a.m.
Investigators interviewed witnesses at the scene, and it is believed that Keys was involved in an altercation with possibly three other people when he was shot.
After the shooting, police said two people described as males ran east for a short time before turning to head south from the scene. It's possible that the males ran south on Howey Road.
Columbus police are asking anyone with cameras on or near the 1000 block of East Weber Road or Howey Road to check for video of the incident.
