COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police is asking for the public's help in identifying two suspects who they say were involved in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old in North Linden last month.
Officers were called to the 1000 block of East Weber Road on Oct. 30 just after midnight on a report of a shooting.
Police arrived at the location and found the teen, identified as Me'Khi Keys, lying on the sidewalk on the south side of East Weber Road.
Keys was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries at 12:35 a.m.
Police said that just before the shooting, Keys and a friend were walking westbound on East Weber Road while two other males were walking eastbound.
One of the males was described as wearing a dark coat with what appeared to be a red hood. The other male was wearing a yellow or tan jacket and light-colored pants.
One of the males encountered Keys and his friend and the three of them stopped walking. Then the male in the yellow or tan jacket crossed the street and immediately shot Keys, police said.
After the shooting, both suspects reportedly ran eastbound on East Weber Road to Howie Road, then proceeded south on Howie Road. It's not known where they went after that.
Police are asking anyone with cameras in the area to check for video of the suspects. Particular hours of interest are the evening of Oct. 29 or the early morning hours of Oct. 30.
