Police: 21-year-old man charged in connection to fatal shooting in South Linden

Police say a preliminary investigation reveals that a fight happened between the two men on East 21st Avenue that resulted in gunfire.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 21-year-old man is charged with murder after a shooting in South Linden last week, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called to the 1000 block of East 21st Avenue in South Linden around 5:15 p.m. for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, officers found Kristion Gresham suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

A short time later, officers were called to the 2000 block of Kenny Road to investigate a shooting victim who was driven to that location. When police arrived, they found 21-year-old Delvon Wilkerson Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead, according to police.

Police say a preliminary investigation reveals that a fight happened between the two men on East 21st Avenue that resulted in gunfire. It’s unclear what the motive was behind it.

Gresham, who was hospitalized, is charged with murder. Police say he was shot by an "identified third party." Gresham was arrested on Monday.

The incident remains under investigation.
