Columbus police confirm no evidence of shots fired at Easton Town Center

Police said that after investigating, they determined the sound was from a car backfiring.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police confirmed that there was no evidence of shots fired at Easton Town Center on Saturday evening after they received multiple reports of a shooting.

A spokesperson for Easton said that the mall's public safety team and officers with the Columbus Division of Police searched the area and found no evidence to substantiate the claims of shots fired in the Station Building.

Police said that after investigating, they determined the sound was from a car backfiring.

The mall is safe and clear, officials confirmed.
