NEWARK, Ohio — A man was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for killing a Newark mother.
Kayla Kemmerling, 24, was found stabbed at her apartment in July last year as police conducted a welfare check.
Her boyfriend, Christian Young, was taken into custody.
Court documents show he confessed to killing Kemmerling and he was charged with aggravated murder.
He was later indicted on a charge of abuse of a corpse.
According to the criminal complaint, he planned the attack for days.
Young was arrested in Hocking County.
After he is released from prison, he may have to serve three years of post-release control supervision.
