NEW ALBANY, Ohio -- A local baseball team won the state title and will represent Ohio in the Little League World Series tournament.
The New Albany 12U baseball team defeated Youngstown Boardman 9-8 in the championship game Saturday to advance to the Great Lakes Regional bracket.
The community welcomed the champs back at New Albany High School where they were escorted by fire truck and police along with parents excited about the win.
New Albany’s first regional game is set for Monday, Aug. 6 at 1 p.m. in Indianapolis against the Indiana or Kentucky state champion.
The winner of the regional championship will advance to the Little League World Series Aug. 16-26 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
