Nearly 300 Christmas inflatables on display in Groveport

Stretching nearly half a mile, the display is free and open to the public until New Year's Day.

GROVEPORT, Ohio — From Santa in a chopper to a giant Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and a Grinch that goes up and down inside a chimney, 286 inflatables dazzle the entrance into the Groveport Municipal Golf Couse off Richardson Road.

Stretching nearly half a mile, the display is free and open to the public until New Year's Day.

It's the brainchild of Paul and Shelly Clark who operate Paddock Pub that's connected to the golf course.

The couple have been firing up their massive trove of inflatable holiday character from minions to Frosty the Snowman, and Star Wars characters for the past four years.

"It takes about two weeks to set up. It's just me and my wife out here really daylight to until dark," says Paul Clark.

At the end of the road is a mailbox where kids can send letter to Santa. Clark says every letter received gets a hand-written response.

Last year about 300 responses were sent out.

The Clarks started the project at their home but decided when they began to run the Paddock Club that the long driveway needed something special, and that's how the giant inflatable display was born. Each year, they keep adding to the display.

"For the most part, we wait until after Christmas and go for it when they are on sale because it's obviously a big investment.  So, whenever we go out looking for all those sales after Christmas and buy up what we don't have already so we don't get duplicates," he said.

The Clarks hope that when people visit their display that also patronize their business to help pay for the cost of it.

If you decide to go, they ask that you not park your car and get out to walk the display as their wires the keep the inflatables tied to the ground.

The inflatable display is open 24/7.
