COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A high-ranking leader in the Columbus Division of Fire is under criminal investigation.
Accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct on the job surfaced against Battalion Chief Joe Richard earlier this month.
10TV is told there are multiple female accusers.
Columbus Fire removed the Battalion Chief from his administrative role and reassigned him to a fire station as an internal investigation was launched.
On Friday, October 11th, based on new information, Columbus Police were asked to investigate whether any of the accusations against him are criminal.
On that same date, the Division of Fire placed Richard on paid administrative leave, barring him from setting foot on any CFD property.
10TV's Jerry Revish caught up with Richard at his home on Monday night. Richard said he is "shocked and devastated" by the allegations. He also said that he is retaining an attorney.
