Police: At least 25 cars broken into at apartment complex in Harrison West

A 911 caller said they saw three people in hooded clothes running in the area.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Multiple cars were broken into at an apartment complex in the Harrison West neighborhood Thursday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

The incident happened at the River House apartments at 891 Ingleside Ave. Public safety dispatchers began receiving calls around 2:50 a.m. One of the callers said they saw three people in hooded clothes running in the area. 

An incident report from Columbus police indicates that 25 to 30 cars were broken into at the complex. 

No injuries were reported. 

Residents told 10TV that they have had little to no belongings taken from their vehicles.

Police say that some suspects who go to apartment complexes and carry out these smash-and-grab type car break-ins are typically looking for guns.

Several residents said they had nothing left out or visible in their cars that might influence someone attempt to break in.
