COLUMBUS, Ohio — Mount Carmel Health System will begin implementing visitor restrictions in its facilities due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Starting Monday, March 16, at 5 a.m., Mount Carmel will restrict visitors at the following sites:

  • Mount Carmel East
  • Mount Carmel St. Ann's
  • Mount Carmel Grove City
  • Mount Carmel New Albany
  • Diley Ridge Medical Center

Mount Carmel says visitors will be screened upon entry and limited to only the main and emergency department entrances at hospitals. Only one visitor per patient will be allowed at a time.

Visitors who are sick or under 18 years old are not allowed. Visitors also won't be permitted from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Exceptions to the restrictions will include end-of-life situations. Minor patients age 18 or under may have two visitors, but are limited to only parents or guardians. People with significant physical disabilities may have one support person in addition to one visitor.

Visiting hour restrictions also do not apply to the emergency department, maternity and newly-admitted patients, but only one visitor per patient at a time will still be enforced.
