Motorcyclist killed in crash in west Columbus

Police say the motorcycle slammed into the driver's side of a car while traveling at a high rate of speed.

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly traffic crash involving a motorcycle.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. Monday on West Broad Street, west of Georgesville Road.

Witnesses told police that the driver of a 2013 white Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling westbound on US-40 at an extremely high rate of speed.

Police say the motorcycle slammed into the driver's side of 2008 silver Chevrolet Malibu that was pulling out a parking lot and onto Broad Street.

The driver of the Kawasaki was identified as 20-year-old Brandon Paul Knudsen, from Grove City. Medical officials pronounced Knudsen deceased at Grant Medical Center.

Investigators say it is unknown at this time whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash.
