NEWARK, Ohio — A motorcyclist is dead after losing control and crashing in Newark Thursday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
OSHP says they were called on a report of a crash on state Route 16 in Newark around 9:40 a.m.
Shane Vaughn, 30, was driving a motorcycle eastbound on state Route 16 in the left lane. While making a turn, Vaughn lost control and overturned, before sliding into the right lane and hitting a trailer.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Vaughn was wearing a helmet at the time but it came off as a result of the crash, OSHP says.
The crash remains under investigation.
