Motorcyclist dead, passenger seriously injured in crash near Heath

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A motorcyclist is dead and their passenger is seriously injured after a crash near Heath Saturday afternoon, according to the Licking County Sheriff’s Office.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on state Route 79, near the 1800 block of Hebron Road.

The sheriff's office says the driver of the motorcycle, 21-year-old Brian Winner, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was taken by helicopter to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The occupants of the other vehicle involved were treated and released at the scene by medics.

It’s unclear at this time what led up to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
