Motorcyclist dies after hit-and-run crash in Franklin County

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, a crash involving a motorcycle and a Honda Civic happened at the intersection of Frank and Brown roads on Monday.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — A motorcyclist died following a hit-and-run crash in Franklin Township Monday evening.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, a crash involving a motorcycle and an early 2000s Honda Civic happened at the intersection of Frank and Brown roads around 6:20 p.m.

Authorities say the driver of the Honda was traveling east on Frank Road at Brown Road while the motorcyclist, later identified as Kevin Chilton, was traveling west on Frank Road. The Honda driver turned north onto Brown Road in front of the motorcycle, causing the motorcyclist to hit the Honda's rear passenger side.

Medics with the Columbus Division of Fire took Chilton to Grant Medical Center where he were pronounced dead at 6:46 p.m.

The Honda driver fled from the scene. The sheriff's office says the Honda is a a tan/gold, early 2000s Civic with aftermarket wheels and it is missing its rear bumper. The car also had a small spoiler on the trunk lid.
