People across central Ohio woke up to flooding in their neighborhoods.
10TV received reports of high water in several areas Monday into Tuesday including near Westerville.
Crews rescued more than 40 people from their homes in the area of Stormcroft Avenue and Cooper Road in northeast Columbus, according to the Columbus Division of Fire.
Battalion Chief Steve Martin said about 100 homes were affected.
10TV went back to the area Tuesday afternoon where neighbors were busy cleaning up the mess. The storm left behind damage both outside and inside their homes.
"We love our homes. We absolutely love our neighbors. We're like family. It would kill me to have to move, but financially and emotionally we can't afford it anymore," said Megan Healy.
Healy is one of several neighbors who told 10TV they want to see something done to address what they described as frequent flooding in their neighborhood.
"We need help. We need help. We need the city to come out and do the right thing," said Sarah Gillis.
10TV reached out to the City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities to find out what is being done to prevent flooding in the neighborhood. A spokesperson said they are still assessing the situation.
Editor's note: The headline and copy have been changed to accurately describe the area of Stormcroft Avenue as being in northeast Columbus near Westerville rather than in Westerville.
