Police: 4-year-old Columbus boy at center of Amber Alert found safe

Police said the mother reached out to detectives and they turned themselves in.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 4-year-old Columbus boy at the center of an Amber Alert was found safe Friday morning, according to police.

Matthew Brown-Giamarco was reported missing by his father just before 5 a.m. from the area of Wedgewood Drive and Eakin Road in the Holly Hill neighborhood. Columbus Division of Police Sgt. James Fuqua said the boy was found unharmed just after 11 a.m. on Dexter Avenue.

He was believed to be with his mother, 24-year-old Sierra Brown, and her friend, 23-year-old Tayson Hixon. Police said both Brown and Hixon reached out to detectives and they turned themselves in.

Because of previously alleged incidents at the residence, Fuqua said they considered it a “very high risk situation.”

“Unfortunately, there were some alleged domestic abuse incidents between the mother and the son that was not reported to us that the father of the child did report to us that had happened a few days prior to today," he said.

Both adults were taken into custody. Brown is charged with domestic violence and assault and Hixon is charged with aggravated menacing.
