COLUMBUS, Ohio — Genoa Township Police Department's newest four-legged member has started his training!
The police department welcomed Maverick, the new therapy puppy, back in November. Maverick is a 4-month-old pup currently undergoing training to work next to an officer in the field.
Maverick will be joining Joe Graham, a resource officer, at Westerville Central High School, according to Chief Stephen Gammill.
Rocky, the department's other therapy dog, works with Genoa Middle School's resource officer Jason Berner.
Gammill told 10TV that therapy dogs can give a lot of comfort to kids and helped break down the barrier between people who may not be as comfortable with police officers.
