Marysville school board votes to increase sports fees; superintendent announces retirement

A special meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 25.

MARYSVILLE, Ohio — The Marysville School Board will meet this week to discuss pay-to-play fees for sports and extracurricular activities.

A special meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 25.

It comes after an emergency levy failed by narrow margins.

In the contingency plan, extracurriculars were set to increase to $770 per student. This week, the school board voted to charge $845 for athletics and $235 for co-curriculars like show choir and band.

The district is also removing school resource officers and discussing other ways to make cuts.

At this week’s meeting, Superintendent Diane Allen also announced her retirement from the district after 13 years.
