OSHP: 69-year-old man killed in Marion County crash

MARION COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — A man is dead after his vehicle overturned in a crash in Marion County Sunday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 11:10 a.m. on Mount Olive-Agosta Road, south of Larue-Prospect Road.

OSHP says 69-year-old Gerald Mertz, of Piqua, was heading north on Mount Olive-Agosta Road in a 2018 Freightliner Columbia. He went off the right side of the road and the vehicle overturned onto its top.

Mertz was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Scioto Valley Fire and EMS, Marion Township Fire, Marion County Coroner’s Office and Ed’s 24-Hour Service.

The crash remains under investigation.
