The man who struck and killed a tow truck driver on Route 104 in 2014 was sentenced to four years in prison Monday.
Brian Spencer entered a guilty plea to one count of aggravated vehicular homicide in the death of John Carpenter.
Carpenter was assisting a stranded motorist near Lockbourne road when Spencer’s car drove off the road, striking Carpenter. He was killed instantly.
Authorities said that Spencer was high on drugs at the time of the crash. Investigators did find drugs on Spencer following the crash.
As a part of his plea, charges of driving under the influence and possession of drugs were dropped.
In addition to the four years, Spencer’s driver’s license has been suspended for the rest of his life.
Spencer is currently serving a 16-year sentence for drugs and weapons charges, per court records.
