Man sentenced to more than 25 years for robbery, burglary in Marion

The charges stem from an incident in January 2022 when Bertuzzi entered a home in Marion wearing a mask and hat in an attempt to hide his identity.

MARION, Ohio — A man was sentenced to more than 25 years in prison Friday after he pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and burglary last month.

Marion County Common Pleas Court Judge Matthew Frericks sentenced 46-year-old Russell Bertuzzi to 26 to 31.5 years in prison.

The charges stem from an incident in January 2022 when Bertuzzi entered a home in Marion wearing a mask and hat in an attempt to hide his identity.

A release from Marion County Prosecuting Attorney Ray Grogan’s office says that there was a victim in the home at the time. Bertuzzi reportedly pulled out a revolver and demanded that the victim give him all his jewelry and money or he would kill him.

Bertuzzi then took the revolver and hit the side of the victim’s head multiple times before leaving the home.

According to the release, Bertuzzi left the revolver, hat and mask behind at the home. DNA results led the Marion Police Department to the suspect.
