COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man missing since May was found dead Friday evening in a wooded area in Guernsey County, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies with the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office were called to Kilburn Lane on Friday after a caller reported she had found what appeared to be a body while she was riding an ATV through a wooded area.
The caller also said she believed it was 77-year-old John Sigman because a truck matching the description of his, a 2013 silver Ford F-150 truck, was also located on the property.
Guernsey County Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced the death Saturday saying, “This is not the outcome that anyone wanted, and my condolences go out to Mr. Sigman’s family at this difficult time.”
Sigman drove away from his home in Lore City on May 11 and never returned. His daughter, Shannon West, said he recently started having memory issues.
The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office issued a silver alert for Sigman on May 17 after he went missing.
Sigman is an Army veteran and served in Vietnam.
This case remains under investigation pending the results of the autopsy.
