COLUMBUS, Ohio - A man accused of kidnapping and raping a woman near Ohio State’s campus earlier this month has been indicated on eight counts.
Twenty-year-old Darrell Labishop Rodgers Jr. was indicted on five counts of rape, two counts of robbery and one count of kidnapping in connection with the incident on August 17.
Authorities say the victim was walking near the intersection of 9th Avenue and High Street when Rodgers approached her, robbed her and ordered her to perform sexual acts at gunpoint.
“This woman was walking near the OSU campus, when she was grabbed by a stranger at gunpoint, forced up against a wall, where she was robbed and repeatedly raped by this defendant,” Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said.
After the assault, Rodgers left the scene and the victim called the police.
Officers were able to locate Rodgers near the crime scene based on the victim’s description. Rodgers was later positively identified by the victim.
Rodgers is set to be arraigned on Wednesday.
