COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man is indicted on three felony charges in connection to a fire at a vacant apartment and condo building near downtown Columbus on May 31.
Derrick Lee is charged with aggravated arson, arson, and vandalism.
The Columbus Division of Fire said the fire started just after 3 a.m. at the building on South Washington Avenue.
Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin said the building was not occupied and it was under construction.
Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien said more than 100 firefighters worked to contain the fire.
Martin said it is not believed the fire was related to the protests and unrest in the city that took place hours before the fire.
No one was hurt in the fire but Martin said it caused $25 million in damage.
Martin said a fire was set at the building next door Saturday night which caused damage inside the building.
Lee is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on June 16.
