WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — A man accused of trying to break into a home was fatally shot Wednesday night in Washington Court House.
According to police, a man called 911 saying he shot someone trying to break into his home in the 1000 block of East Paint Street around 10:15 p.m.
Arriving officers found a man, identified as 30-year-old Corey Keeton, lying on the front porch of the home near the front door. First responders tried to perform life-saving measures, but Keeton was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the 911 call, the man told dispatchers he believed Keeton was trying to break into his house. The caller said he opened the front door and saw something metal in Keeton's hand before firing a shot. He also said Keeton was wearing a ski mask.
Police have not announced any charges against the shooter. The incident remains under investigation.
