OBETZ, Ohio — A man is charged with felonious assault after authorities say he hit the Obetz Chief of Police with his car.

According to court documents, Chief of Police Michael Confer parked his car with the police lights activated in front of a car driven by 30-year-old Clinton Monnin on Lancaster Avenue on Tuesday.

Confer approached the front of Monnin’s car while displaying his badge. Monnin then allegedly accelerated the vehicle, hitting Confer in the legs and forcing him onto the hood of the car and then falling off the passenger side.

Monnin admitted to accelerating the vehicle during the incident, according to court records.
