COLUMBUS, Ohio — A recent graduate of Logan High School was killed in a motorcycle crash in Vinton County Friday afternoon.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on state Route 56 in Swan Township around 4:30 p.m.

Mason White, 18, of New Plymouth, was heading eastbound on a 2022 CFMOTO 300SS motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the road. Troopers say he hit a mailbox and a ditch before the motorcycle overturned several times.

White was pronounced dead at the scene.

Vinton County Bands posted a statement to Facebook stating that a candlelight concert will be held Friday in remembrance of White.

“Mason was such a great friend and beloved member of the Logan Band family. Mason's parents have asked that we hold a candlelight concert in his memory and we feel this is an incredibly fitting tribute to his life,” the statement read in part.

The concert will be held at Logan Stadium starting at 8:30 p.m. Students from Vinton County High School, where White attended before transferring to Logan High School, will be participating alongside Ohio University students.

The Logan-Hocking Local School District is providing grief counseling through Hopewell Health from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 17 and 18 at the Logan High School Counseling Office.

"The Logan-Hocking School District is incredibly saddened by the passing of Mason White, a beloved student member of Chieftain Nation. Our deepest condolences are with his family, friends and loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time," the district said.

The crash is still under investigation.
