LOGAN COUNTY, Ohio — An EF3 tornado tore through Logan County's Indian Lake community Thursday night during a round of severe storms through the state.
Once daylight broke, residents were able to fully take in the damage. One of the areas in the Indian Lake community that was impacted by the tornado was the mobile home park in Lakeview.
Downed wires and debris scattered the area after the storm came through.
Residents spent the day trying to figure out what they could salvage.
“Everything is gone, everything that I had is wiped out. I’m trying to scavenge clothes and whatever I can get out of here,” said Tom Martin.
Martin has lived at the mobile home park for 30 years and doesn’t have insurance.
“Completely destroyed the living room, took out the whole wall and the ceiling,” he explained.
An oak tree has crushed his home and branches are shooting through Martin’s living room.
Martin considers himself lucky that he wasn’t home when the tornado ripped through this community.
“If I happened to have been here, I don’t know what would have happened to me, really. It’s just a good thing I wasn’t here,” Martin said.
With the help of family, he’s trying to save what’s most important.
“There’s a box of pictures and stuff and some old coins, stuff I’ve had for 20 or 30 years. Just trying to salvage as much as I can,” Martin said.
