Lockdown lifted at West High School after police respond to multiple fights

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A lockdown at West High School was lifted Friday after police responded to multiple fights at the school, according to the Columbus City School District.

Police said the school resource officer reported fights in the gym and the hallways around 11 a.m.

An officer who responded to the first call for fights reported another fight in the cafeteria around noon.

Police said the school will be dismissing on time.

Police said upwards of 20 police cruisers responded to the school.

A district spokesperson said the school was initially placed on lockdown to deescalate the situation.

There are no reports of anyone being taken to the hospital, according to Columbus police.
