5 Dublin schools placed on 'secure' status amid search for attempted murder suspect

The search area included the Wyandotte Woods subdivision, Emerald Fields and adjacent apartments and condominiums.

DUBLIN, Ohio — Students and staff inside Dublin-area schools were asked to remain indoors Thursday afternoon as authorities searched for a suspect in the area.

Five school buildings were placed on a "secure" status while the Dublin Police Department assisted a U.S. Marshals task force with the search for a man wanted on attempted murder. An officer was stationed at each school as a precaution, police said.

The search area included the Wyandotte Woods subdivision, Emerald Fields and adjacent apartments and condominiums. Dublin police said they believe the suspect, identified as 48-year-old Christopher Back, is no longer in the area.

The search was called off and the alert at the schools has since been lifted. The schools planned to dismiss students at their normal time.

Back is accused of stabbing another man multiple times at a home on the east side of Columbus on Dec. 10.

Police said Back was last seen in the 7600 block of Scioto Crossing Drive in Dublin.
