Sheriff: Deputies shoot, kill suspect while responding to domestic call in Licking County

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called to investigate the shooting.

LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — Licking County deputies fatally shot a stabbing suspect while responding to a domestic call Friday morning, according to Sheriff Randy Thorp.

A Licking County dispatcher said deputies were called to a house in the 4200 block of Northridge Road NW in Alexandria for a domestic dispute around 9:25 a.m.

Thorp said the sheriff’s office received several 911 calls about a man attempting to stab and kill a woman.

The house was on fire when deputies arrived at the location. Deputies entered the home and found the suspect.

During the encounter, Thorp said deputies fired shots at the suspect. It is unclear whether the suspect was armed or if he had used a weapon against law enforcement.

Thorp said the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The sheriff added that the woman involved in the incident suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK.
