LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — A 49-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle while walking along a road in Licking County on Wednesday, according to Sheriff Randy Thorp.
The sheriff's office said that just before 8:50 a.m. on Thursday, deputies were dispatched to state Route 16 on a report of a dead body.
After deputies arrived, they located Randall Thomas, of Nashport, dead.
Detectives determined that on Wednesday, Thomas was walking eastbound along state Route 16 and carrying a flashlight when he was struck by a vehicle also traveling eastbound. The vehicle did not stay at the scene.
The sheriff's office said the vehicle and driver involved have since been located.
The crash remains under investigation.
